Our lab generates data-driven, justice-centered research to interrogate the structures restricting bodily autonomy that contribute to reproductive health inequities in Minnesota, nationally, and abroad. We use our findings to inform policy, shift narratives, and build more equitable futures.
We bring together different areas of expertise to better understand and improve reproductive health and justice.
Everyone has a right to autonomy and the necessary tools for informed reproductive decision-making. People should be able to make informed choices about their bodies without coercion, misinformation, barriers, or restrictions.
We center intersectionality: We recognize that race, disability, class, sexuality, gender, and other identities shape people’s reproductive experiences—and we value lived-experience in our research approach.
Community voices shape our work: We value and share knowledge with communities, not just within academic spaces. We build respectful partnerships.
We challenge structural oppression and resist biological essentialism. We reject the idea that biology or personal choices alone explain health outcomes. Instead, we recognize structural oppression as a fundamental cause of reproductive injustice, disease, and inequity—and we focus our work on transforming those systems.
